I’m an author and I understand the need to promote my work. It’s tough getting your work noticed amongst thousands of other books. But…yes, there’s a but…what irritates the crap out of me is when people ram their books down my throat every five minutes. You’re not promoting anything then – you’re just annoying people. So, instead of winning potential readers, all you’re doing is switching them off to your work forever. Promote, but do it in an appropriate manner!
End of rant.
Quite agree. I don’t mind the occasional announcement about a book, or a few references during a promotion. Some authors constantly post the same links to their books on Twitter and Facebook though.
Far better to slip in a few subtle references to a book or website in a post that actually means something.
Definitely, John. The nessage still gets out, but as part of something of interest.
